High-flying Jambos look set to break Livi’s hearts

By Henry Hardwicke

LIVINGSTON are just two points off the foot of the Scottish Premiership table going into the weekend’s fixtures and it’s unlikely that things will improve when Hearts visit Almondvale.

The Jambos have made an excellent return to the top flight since their promotion last season and they are yet to lose on their own patch this term. Their away form hasn’t been quite as impressive, although Robbie Neilson’s side have won at Dundee United and St Mirren and they picked up a point at Ibrox.

Hearts played fairly well when going down 1-0 at Celtic on Thursday and they face far weaker opposition tomorrow.

Livingston are without a win in five league matches, scoring just three goals in that run, and their performances have been poor.

Of course, Livi did grab at draw at Parkhead, but that came in a game in which they had no shots on target, one effort on goal and just 15 per cent possession. Quotes of 11-10 about a Hearts victory look well worth taking.

Motherwell got back to winning ways against Dundee United on Tuesday, recording their third success in four matches. It’s encouraging that a previous leaky Well defence have kept three clean sheets in their last four and Graham Alexander’s men look underrated at Hibs.

The Hibees were given a tough time by Rangers on Wednesday night and that 1-0 defeat made it just one victory in their last seven top-flight matches. Jack Ross is heavily reliant on Martin Boyle and if Well can keep the Aussie quiet they can pick up at least a point.
