Owners’ views are valued says Cooper
By Jonathan Kay
GBGB chairman Jeremy Cooper has reiterated that the Board “completely value” the views of owners following the resignation of owners’ representative Paul Carpenter this week.
Speaking yesterday following Thursday’s regularly-scheduled GBGB Board meeting, Cooper said: “The Board discussed the contents of Paul Carpenter’s letter of resignation and considered how best these should be reflected in our future thinking.
“The views expressed by him will be fed into the strategy setting process with which the Board and Paul were already engaged.
“But, in addition to this, his comments need to be considered in how we best ensure owners’ views are represented at Board level in the future.
“The Board completely value the views of owners which we genuinely attribute to having owner representation on the board.
“Regarding a replacement for Paul, as the owner practitioner representative, the Board is
currently considering how best to move this forward, whether to simply readvertise the position for election or whether to seek views from owners as to how the post can be both recruited and sustained moving forwards.”
It is understood that GBGB trainers’ representative Peter Harnden was present at the remote Board meeting on Thursday having said he was considering his own position. He could not be contacted for comment yesterday.
