Ewing claim could swing it for Sheishybrid

Mark Boylan

Sasvana

2.20 Down Royal

1pt win

A 4lb rise may not be enough to halt the progress of recent Leopardstown winner

Sasvana, who has been found a good opportunity to double her tally in the first division of the 7f handicap.

That popular success for trainer Dermot Murphy came against some rivals rated around 76 and 77, whereas the four-year-old filly is now the highest-rated runner in the race with a mark of 62 and Nikita Kane again taking off 7lb.

A decent break would give Sasvana options tactically from stall two and given she has only had eight starts (six on turf ) she is an obvious contender to go in again, taking on rivals generally a little more exposed than her.

Sheishybrid

3.25 Down Royal

1pt win

Noel Meade has been doing a terrific job with his Flat string

and could land another good pot in the BoyleSports Ulster Derby with the unexposed Sheishybrid, who was a decisive winner at the course 15 days ago.

The 9lb rise won’t be too harshly felt given Sam Ewing takes over in the saddle with an appealing 5lb claim, and there’s bound to be plenty of pace up front, which is no harm for the patiently ridden selection.

She seemed to enjoy the good to firm ground last time and is entitled to be bang there again, with a sound surface expected.

Martinique

4.00 Down Royal

1pt win

Aidan O’Brien won last year’s Ulster Oaks with an improving filly in Elizabethofaragon and appears to have another ideal candidate in Martinique, who should come forward plenty from her comprehensive breakthrough win at Listowel a fortnight ago.

The unexposed three-yearold has been handed a mark of 90 on the back of that success and has a fair deal of scope to improve, given she still looked quite raw last time when powering home to beat the now 86-rated Ahandfulofsummers.
