Who takes your eye in the final two races?

King Frankel looked very unlucky in defeat at Epsom and can win the Golden Gates. Frankie Dettori aboard and a good draw are boosts to his chances. I also fancy Frankie to send punters home happy with a win in the finale on Falcon Eight who was so impressive when winning the Chester Cup last time.

Mark Johnston has such a good record with his horses at Royal Ascot so I like the look of King Frankel in the Golden Gates Stakes. He’s consistent, he tries hard and he’ll like the ground so hopefully he can give Frankie another winner at the meeting.

The stiff challenge presented by this distance on soft ground at Ascot should suit King Frankel in the Golden Gates. This is the type of handicap in which Mark Johnstontrained runners thrive. Stratum looks a contender for all seasons and can play a big part for the often potent combination of Willie Mullins and Ryan Moore in the Queen Alexandra.

I’ll back the buzzy Baton Rouge if he gets through the Golden Gates preliminaries unscathed, Pythagoras otherwise. In the Queen Alexandra, I can foresee it being a case of who lasts the longest and on those terms Stratum ought to get the better of Falcon Eight, who might be classier. You get the distinct impression Stratum has been laid out for this meeting and he will relish conditions.

I’m surprised to see Without Revenge trading as one of the outsiders in the Golden Gates. He made a good impression when stepping up to 1m2f last month and has more to offer at this trip. On the other hand, I’m happy to stick with the favourite Falcon Eight in the finale. His recent win in the Chester Cup is probably the best recent form on offer here.
