Which of the favourites are you happy to take on?

France won’t need reminding about the holders’ shocking record of falling at the group stage at the following World Cup and, while it would be a huge shock if they did so again, I can see them having more than injuries to deal with.

England. A combination of poor form, questionable selections from Gareth Southgate and key injuries to Kyle Walker and Reece James all point to this team being far from a serious World Cup contender.

Spain and Germany appear to be in a transitional period, and both lack a top striker. Four years down the line they could be the best but right now you’ve got Morata who’s over the hill and Germany’s best option is a 17-year-old kid.

Argentina look very short – most would like to see Messi being confirmed the greatest of all-time but they must be taken on at the prices.

England are the obvious answer but there are doubts about plenty of the front-runners for me. There are so many unknowns such as the climate, location and time of year, so hopefully there a few outsiders who might get involved.

Germany have taken a backwards step over the last few years. After a tough spell in the Nations League and Marco Reus not on the plane to Qatar they are worth taking on, especially with Spain in their group.

France. With a number of key players unavailable, the holders look a little vulnerable and could well fall as early as the group stage.

England have reached the semis and final of their last two major tournaments but their defence and goalkeeping options look weak, while France have lost some key midfielders to injury and one poor result could derail their bid.
