Exciting Al Asifah can follow up stylish debut

Call Glory James Hill Best alternative: La Pulga

2.45 Goodwood, 5f seller, 2yo While the ITV cameras might be at Beverley, there’s some terrific racing at Goodwood on Sunday, when even the seller’s not bad.

My selection in the juvenile contest is Call Glory, who might have been a little unlucky not to go close at Musselburgh last time.

He got no run in finishing fourth there yet was only beaten less than a length, and the clock suggests he’s got strong claims here.

Profitable Dreams followed up a debut fourth with a gutsy win at Chepstow last time for in-form trainer Alice Haynes and she looks sure to run her race.

Best alternative: Profitable Dreams

Al Asifah 3.20 Goodwood, 1m2f Listed race, 3yo fillies

There are two Listed races at Goodwood on Sunday, but the one who interests me most from a betting view is the Agnes Keyser Fillies’ Stakes over 1m2f, where Al Asifah bids to follow up an emphatic win on her debut at Haydock last month.

That performance from the John and Thady Gosdentrained daughter of Frankel suggested she could be quite useful and while she’ll be a short price again here in what is sure to be a much stronger race, it’s still tough to look beyond her.

William Haggas’s Royal Mila could provide the biggest danger as she scored on her debut over this track and distance a couple of weeks ago, but it would disappointing if Al Asifah can’t get the job done here.

Best alternative: Royal Mila

Majeski Man

3.45 Goodwood,

5f apprentice handicap

The Sunday Series and ITV cameras head to Beverley and there are plenty of punting opportunities across the sevenrace card that kicks off at 3.45.

The one who interests me most most in the opening apprentice sprint is Majeski Man (3.45), who comes here seeking a hat-trick after following up a win over course and distance with a narrowmargin victory at Nottingham last time.

Paul Midgley’s six-year-old

can probably be marked up for that latest win, though, as the runner-up Lipsink seemed to catch the field out as he made a dash up the near rail.

Majeski Man looked in trouble for a stride or two at the furlong pole but pulled out plenty and was soon on top in the final 100 yards.

The pair pulled a long way clear of the third and the others were strung out and Majeski Man goes here off the same mark of 73.

Huddle Up can pose the biggest danger as he has dropped down to winnable mark of 73.

Once rated as high as 86, Huddle Up has been running well this season, beaten no more than a length and a half in his three starts this season and it is surely only a matter of time before he is in the winner’s enclosure.

Best alternative: Huddle Up

Bringbackmemories

3.45 Goodwood,

5f apprentice handicap

We will go to the lucky last for our next punting opportunity where Bringbackmemories can add just a second win in his 17 starts.

That win came in impressive style over hurdles at Musselburgh on New Year’s Day when in the care of John McConnell beforte he switched to Iain Jardine.

We was given a wind operation before his last start in a 1m2f handicap at Ayr where he didn’t run badly, but is surely going to be suited by the step up to 1m4f here.

Charlie Johnston is operating at a 22 per cent strike-rate in the past 14 days and La Pulga looks set to run a big race here on the back of a good fourth at Hamilton last time.
