Two-year-olds

Alyanaabi 2 b c Too Darn Hot – Alyamaama

I trained the dam, who is from one of Sheikh Hamdan’s top families. Her dam is Sarayir, which makes Alyamaama a halfsister to Ghanaati and Mawatheeq. We never managed to get her on course, but her son Alyanaabi is a lovely individual. He’s an athletic colt who covers a lot of ground and all being well will make his debut later this month or early July. I’ve been getting a good feel for him from the reports of his work-riders and they all like him.

Budding Poet 2 b c Calyx – Decima

He’s owned by the Empire State Racing Partnership and is almost ready to run. He‘s showing some nice speed and looks pretty straightforward, so hopefully he’ll be okay when we get him on the track.

Estifraad 2 b c Frankel – Jahafil

This colt has a fabulous pedigree being by the great Frankel and from the family of Taghrooda. This is a quality colt who’ll want a bit more time and is one for the back end.

Miaharris 2 b f Zoustar- An Ghalanta

Oliver Harris sent this lovely filly to me having been seventh fastest at the Craven Breeze-Up sales. She cost 210,000gns and looks very sharp in her work. There’s a lot to like about her and she’s constantly pleasing me. Whatever she does first time, I expect her to improve a lot.

Najm Aldar 2 b c Territories – Navarra Sun

He’s an interesting colt who was bought at the German yearling sales by Ahmed Al Shaikh. He’s a mature, athletic colt who is

half-speeding now. All being well, he’ll be out at the end of this month. We like what we see as he’s showing a bit more speed than you would expect from a colt out of a Lope De Vega mare.

Unnamed 2 b c Al Kazeem – Kentucky Belle

This lovely colt is a half-brother to Isaac Shelby, impressive winner of the Greenham in April and second in the French Guineas. He has done a few halfspeed gallops and was initially a slow learner, but he has really started to pick up of late. I could see him running later this month. There’s clearly something to work on.

Unnamed 2 b c Sea The Stars – Spirit Beat

This 160,000gns purchase is a strong horse, not over-big but he looks nice. Michael Blenkowe sent him to us and we’ll soon be stepping up work with him. He had a bit of time at AP McCoy’s, which I have as my overflow facility, being only half a mile up the road from us. This colt has been back a few weeks now and we’re just picking up his conditioning cantering. He looks a lovely prospect.

War Rooms 2 b c Churchill – Apticanti

He was a 200,000gns purchase from Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Sales and Brook Farm Bloodstock very kindly sent him to me. He’s an athletic horse with a good mind who has done everything we have asked so easily. I’ve just started to do some easy half-speed but, being a big horse, I’m not going to force him too quickly. I hope we can get him out later in July. He’ll definitely want 7f and a mile in time, with middle distances next year. It’s always a good sign when one you expect to be out much later in the season catches your eye so early in the year.
