Compensation in order for connections whose hopes were dashed

WHAT was most bizarre about the farce surrounding Saturday’s Dash is that someone somewhere didn’t wave the red flag before the ‘weighed in’ was announced. Watching the race live, it was clear that the high numbers were suspiciously ahead of the game, so why no jockeys, owners, trainers, members of the media or some other Tom, Dick or Harry didn’t head straight to the stewards’ room remains somewhat baffling. It’s game over for those punters who did their money on those drawn low, but for those connected to the horses whose races were run before halfway deserve some compensation. That is surely a no-brainer.
