3.30 Sandown

Virgin Bet Masters Handicap Chase, 3m

SAM HARDY

1 Slipway

2 Bangers And Cash

3 Laskalin

The Ben Pauling-trained Slipway has every chance of landing a hat-trick here as he continues his rise through the weights. Running off a mark of 120 this time last year, the eight-year-old has improved 20lb in five runs since, going on to be the stable’s highest rated horse in the process. The Pauling yard are in fine form with three winners from their last 18 runners.

JAMES HILL

1 Bangers And Cash

2 Rapper

3 Eva’s Oskar

Tough to call. It tends to go to a young improving chaser hence why I like the Pauling pair of Slipway and Bangers And Cash. Slipway could go to Musselburgh, but this is Bangers And Cash’s sole entry. He won the Lincolnshire National at Market Rasen last time with his good jumping a feature. He looks more progressive than Eva’s Oskar and Rapper, both of whom still have to be on your shortlist.

MADDY PLAYLE

1 Equus Dancer

2 Empire Steel

3 Movethechains

I’ve been putting up Equus Dancer and Empire Steel for similar races in the past few weeks and perhaps this time they’ll both turn up. The former looks very exciting and is surely still well handicapped, while the grey is capable off his current mark. Movethechains is another improving young chaser.

STUART REDDING

1 Flegmatik

2 Bangers And Cash

3 Farinet

Flegmatik wasn’t at his best at Kempton last time out but he was also beaten comfortably in that race last winter before winning a 3m handicap six weeks later. A third over 2m5f in November showed he is still on a workable mark and this trip is probably more suitable for Dan Skelton’s charge now. Bangers And Cash has discovered the winning habit recently and is also on the shortlist.
