2.55 Sandown

Virgin Bet Heroes Handicap Hurdle, 2m7½f

SAM HARDY

1 Remastered

2 Dolphin Square

3 Coquelicot

An easy winner when last seen over hurdles at Aintree off a mark of 132, Remastered is potentially well handicapped again off a mark 10lb lower than his current chase rating. He also won last time out. Dolphin Square, a winner over course and distance in December, should run another solid race and is sure to be involved at the business end of the race.

JAMES HILL

1 Coquelicot

2 Grozni

3 Maxxum

Gordon Elliott has entered five here, including Maxxum, but Ireland’s best hope could be Grozni for the Charles Byrnes yard. He’s been given an interesting campaign and won a novice at Leicester last time. However, bookmakers have now cottoned on to Byrnes so Coquelicot makes more appeal. This mare’s having a great season and her form has worked out really well. She’s a live contender.

MADDY PLAYLE

1 Party Business

2 Trelawne

3 Remastered

There is plenty of interesting Irish representation here but I wouldn’t be surprised if many are entered just to see what their British marks are. Party Business is returning off the back of a long layoff but was a doughty winner at Aintree last season and should have more to offer in races like this. Trelawne is a fascinating player on just his fourth start, while Remastered is now 10lb higher over fences.

STUART REDDING

1 Call Me Lord

2 Remastered

3 Green Book

Call Me Lord was only sixth in this last year but he never really convinced last winter and has looked more like his old self recently, including when narrowly beaten by Dolphin Square over this course and distance in December. He wasn’t quite so good at Cheltenham four weeks later but he deserves another chance back at what is his favourite track. The versatile Remastered is another to consider.
