bet365 Auld Yin Conditional Jockeys’ Veterans’ Handicap Chase, 3m

SAM HARDY

1 Didero Vallis

2 Le Breuil

3 Cyclop

The Venetia Williamstrained Didero Vallis runs off a career-low chase mark here and his recent third at Ludlow suggests he is coming into form at the right time of the season. Having his first run in veteran company, the tenyear-old should be more suited to the lessdemanding early pace and the others can set it up nicely for the son of Poliglote to pounce late on.

JAMES HILL

1 Didero Vallis

2 Baron De Midleton

3 Cyclop

Probably Venetia Williams’ best chance of a TV winner comes in this race with Didero Vallis. He’s got the best recent form and has the back class with a peak rating of 139. Were this taking place on a left-handed track I’d be very keen on his chances, but he’s still got a fair shout here. Baron De Midleton, who also has good recent form, represents the main threat.

MADDY PLAYLE

1 Didero Vallis

2 Mr Muldoon

3 Le Breuil

This looks a tough handicap to solve but the place to start is last year’s Kim Muir third Didero Vallis, who has run decent races on his only two starts since, yet he’s now 4lb lower. Mr Muldoon bounced back to form over hurdles last time and is 11lb lower than his last chase win, while Le Breuil is mercurial but capable if in the mood.

STUART REDDING

1 Fawsley Spirit

2 Le Breuil

3 Didero Vallis

Ben Pauling has two good chances in this veterans’ chase, headed by Fawsley Spirit. He spent 596 days on the sidelines after some decent hurdles efforts in 2021-22 but showed the ability remains with a narrow defeat over fences at Market Rasen in November. A lesser display at Taunton perhaps came too soon but he is capable of scoring in this company if back to his best.
