The Paul Nicholls-trained Monmiral was rated superior to these over hurdles and, although runner-up on both chase starts – including behind Jonbon, the six-year-old should have too much class for his rivals here. Balco Coastal was an impressive winner at Kempton on Boxing Day and is the obvious danger for- a stable that has a habit of winning this race. This race is a huge step forward though and he would have to put in a career best to win.
