Ahoy there! Super Senor a class apart

EVER since I was a kid I have enjoyed being a fan.

Ten Plus was my first equine hero and since then there have been a whole string of others. Troy remains my favourite Flat horse, and I was always a massive Imperial Commander fan too, but my current squeeze is Ahoy Senor, who I adopted in my own mind after he won a modest Ayr maiden hurdle last March.

Like Troy, Ten Plus and Imperial Commander before him, Ahoy Senor has a powerful, willing way of movement that sets him apart from 99.9 per cent of horses, and he looked awesome at Newbury at the weekend.

Everyone seemed to think his Aintree win was a fluke, but he’s simply a more talented horse than Bravemansgame, who he beat easily on that occasion. I don’t think there is a staying novice chaser in training with anything like Ahoy Senor’s ability.

Bravemansgame will probably always be a better jumper but, contrary to popular belief, I didn’t think he had that much left at Haydock last time and granted a clear round I reckon Ahoy Senor would run clean away from him once again.
