Ahoy Senor a dream come true

IT’S a tough world in which the more casual jumps owners are facing an ever-increasing challenge to stand any chance on the days that matter, so those with the keys to Ahoy Senor (below) must be pinching themselves.

Winning a Grade 1 over hurdles last season was something else, but that’s nothing compared to what he might go on and achieve as a chaser. He must have some engine to have barely recognised the highly rated Irish raider Mr Incredible, and the other two he hammered at Newbury on Saturday weren’t bad either.

The battle lines are firmly drawn these days in jumping. It is refreshing when less-privileged owners can cross that line and, if Ahoy Senor can stay safe and sound, then Carron and Bruce Wymer could be on the right side of it for some time. They have a freak, don’t they?
