Thunderstorms always ominous for this summer highlight

I PRAY the weather holds up later in the week as thunderstorms are the last thing anybody wants. Those associated with mud-lovers will argue otherwise, but wet Ascots are rarely memorable with soft ground such a great leveller. This week, above all weeks, we hope to see quickeners prevail over gallopers. Those who want it knee-deep will have plenty of opportunities later in the year, including here in October. Champions Day is their Royal Ascot.
