Get Ahead to run down Ward hotpot Twilight

Rest of Ascot Queen Mary Stakes

2.30, 5f Group 2

It wouldn’t be the Queen Mary without a Wesley Ward hotpot and, as usual, the vibes have been positive about T wilight Gleaming.

She won her last race by seven and a half lengths in a quick time and such is the size and speed-out--of-the-stalls advantage these Ward horses seem to possess she will be hard to catch.

However, Clive Cox has plenty of success with two-yearolds at this meeting and won this race with Heartache in 2017 and Get Ahead couldn’t have been more impressive after winning a maiden over course and distance last month.

Beautiful Sunshine has improved considerably with every start this season and has a big chance of landing a first Royal Ascot winner for prolific trainer George Boughie.

She bolted up at Sandown last time and represents good each-way value.

Second to High Definition on debut, Wordsworth impressed in his maiden on his next start and although beaten by Saint Lucan on his first start of the season in a Listed contest at Leopardstown, he should come on plenty for that.

The extra furlong should also play to the strengths of this son of Galileo and is the choice of Ryan Moore, who himself has won this race four times in the last ten years.

However, there is a horse who is completely the wrong price here and that is Taipan for Jessica Harrington.

The son of Frankel was twice beaten by Balshoi Ballet this year but is better than those performances and the addition of first-time blinkers can bring out the necessary improvement to make him a big contender in this and, at 11-1, is a serious each-way player.

Kemari produced a big performance when winning at Yarmouth last time. This is a big jump in class but he comes from a powerful stable and should not be discounted.

Lady Bowthorpe brings Group 1 form to the table after she chased down Palace Pier when second in the Lockinge last time out.

A rating of 117 means she is a good way clear of her rivals on figures here and will take some pegging back.

However, I simply can’t let Bounce The Blues go unbacked at a double-figured price.

This is a filly I am sure we have not seen the best of yet and arguably should have won her last start when Oisin Murphy found all sorts of trouble in a Group 3 at Lingfield.

The positive from that defeat is that she doesn’t have to carry a penalty in this and this race should be run to suit.

Queen Power has always promised to go to the very top level and the penny looked to have finally dropped when she ran out an impressive winnner at York last time.

Another two Wesley Ward speedsters head the market, but preference is for John Quinn’s Tipperary Sunset, who is sired by the 2016 winner Ardad.

He has looked good on his first two starts and can take that form to a different level in this.

Armor is another to consider after an impressive debut at Doncaster. He is by No Nay Never, who could take over the mantle as a leading Ascot sire now Scat Daddy has passed.

6.10, 1m handicap

Sir Michael Stoute’s progressive

Lights On is the early favourite for this but she will have to overcome a difficult draw from 17 with this handicap taking place on the round course.

Instead preference is for

Dreamloper, who was beaten a short head by Lights On here last time but has a 1lb swing and a much better draw (8) to gain revenge on her rival.

Dalanijujo is perhaps the most interesting of those at the bigger prices. She was highly thought of as a juvenile and is still relatively lightly raced.

She was impressive on her seasonal reappearance at Yarmouth and comes into this under the radar slightly. 1. DREAMLOPER 2. Lights On 3. Dalanijujo
