Mohaafeth to reward connections’ patience

Norfolk Stakes

2.30, 5f Group 2

Eight out of the last ten winners have won at single-figure odds so it may be best to concentrate on those at the head of the market.

With that in mind, the one who immediately jumps off the page is the Aidan O’Brientrained Cadamosto. Second favourite at the time of writing, the son of 2013 Norfolk Stakes winner No Nay Never was an impressive winner at Dundalk on his only start.

Sent off joint favourite that day, the colt knew his job and once he got to the front he was not for passing and was pulling further away from his rivals at the finish. He could well be the master trainer’s strongest fancies of the week.

American trainer Wesley Ward has two entered for the race with ante-post favourite Lucci looking the strongest of the pair after his emphatic win at Belmont Park on his only start.

1. CADAMOSTO

2. Lucci

3. Navello

Hampton Court Stakes

3.05, 1m2f Group 3 Mohaafeth was as short as 10-1 to land the Derby before connections withdrew the colt due to the ground conditions and he should reward there patience with a win here if ground conditions are suitable enough.

The son of Frankel was still a maiden coming into his threeyear-old campaign but has won all three starts this season, including an impressive fivelength victory in a Listed race at Newmarket last time and the colt leaves the impression there is more yet to come.

Aidan O’Brien has won this four times including last year’s running and his best chance of another win could come in the shape of Roman Empire.

Last seen finishing fourth in the Dante at York, the son of Galileo could improve now running on good to firm ground as all runs before have been on good ground or worse. 1. MOHAAFETH

2. Roman Empire

3. Secret Protector

Ribblesdale Stakes

3.40, 1m4f Group 2

The Sir Micheal Stoute-trained Noon Star is the most interesting contender having last finished second to runaway Oaks winner Snowfall in the Musidora Stakes, but her price looks short enough to look for alternatives.

Although still a maiden, Sea Karats is held in high regard by the William Haggas team, having been sent off the favourite on two of her three career starts.

The Haggas team are f lying high at present with 15 winners over the previous fortnight and the daughter of Sea The Stars is more than capable of extending the trainers current fine form.

The main danger to the selection is the Roger Variantrained Eshaada, who is unbeaten in two runs including a victory over Gloria Mundi last time out at Newbury.

1. SEA KARATS

2. Eshaada

3. Annerville

King George V Stakes

5.35, 1m4f handicap

Trainer Charlie Appleby and jockey William Buick won this race in 2015 with Space Age and have every chance of repeating that success with Siskany, who is bidding to land a four-timer.

Impressive at Sandown last time, the Dubawi colt left the feeling he would improve further with a step up in trip as he won going away from his rivals on soft ground.

The ground is no issue to the Godolphin-bred colt and he could be a group horse in the making having won three from four starts already.

The Aidan O’Brien-trained Sir Lamorak is an obvious danger, winning both his starts as a three-year-old and was being spoken of as a potential Derby horse but never took his chance at Epsom and this race could have been the target all along.

1. SISKANY

2. Sir Lamorak

3. Surefire

Buckingham Palace

6.10, 7f handicap

Trainer Charlie Hills looks to have another great chance of a Royal winner in the shape of Persuasion.

An impressive winner when last seen taking a valuable handicap at Haydock, finishing in front of a few of today’s rivals, he should improve again as he is lightly raced with just the seven runs to his name.

Trainer John Gosden won the first ever running of this race back in 2002 and has every chance of making it win number two with the talented but quirky Riot if the gelding gets into the race.

1. PERSUASION

2. Riot

3. Lampang
