Trends analysis
JAMES HILL
Eight of the last ten winners had secured their best Racing Post Rating in a Class 2 or 3 handicap
Trends have broken up a bit in this race for the last few years, but we can still be pretty categorical about this stat. Horses need experience of big-field handicaps in the Wokingham, as they need to handle the hustle and bustle and stay the 6f really well.
As for stamina, as many as seven of the winners going back to 2009 scored over 7f.
Make sure your selection’s in form. Five of the winners between 2009-2015 were coming into this on the back of a top-two finish, although this stat hasn’t applied to the last three winners.
A quick word about the draw. Don’t look high or low, go down the middle. Of the last 40 places in this event, nearly a quarter have gone to horses boxed in stalls 15-18.
Verdict
It’s a huge entry, but few truly fit the criteria. However, it’s hard to knock the favourite Tabdeed, who ran well for a long way in a big-field Jersey Stakes at this meeting last year. Don’t be worried that he hasn’t had a run, as he’s unbeaten coming off the back of a break.
