THE Brian Meehan-trained Bacchus made his seasonal reappearance in the Wokingham, after finishing fourth in a Class 2 handicap at Ascot on his last start of 2017, and was sent off a 33-1 shot in the 28-runner field.
Positioned in midfield, the five-year-old hung left from a furlong out but headed the warm favourite Dreamfield by a neck in the final strides. In a tight finish, the Kevin Ryantrained Major Jumbo and Tis Marvellous finished half a length and a shoulder behind in third and fourth respectively.
