The six-million dollar questions

JAMES STEVENS

If Hermosa misses this, who stands out among the British and Irish contenders?

Sir Michael Stoute could have a potential star on his hands with Jubiloso, who is undefeated in two starts and made a huge impression when scoring by seven lengths in a competitive novice contest last time at Newbury.

Meanwhile, Pretty Pollyanna has already proved herself a top-class filly, scoring in the Prix Morny as a juvenile before shaping promisingly on her return in the Irish 1,000 Guineas. Qabala may have disappointed in the Irish Classic, but her third at Newmarket gives her a chance.

Could Castle Lady give the French another win?

French-trained runners have a good record over the last few years with Immortal Verse (2011), Ervedya (2015) and Qemah (2016) all successful. This year they could be represented by French 1,000 Guineas winner Castle Lady.

Ervedya was the last winner of the French Classic to win this and, although she was a tad more impressive that day, Castle Lady comes here unbeaten.
