SCOUTING REPORT

Manager

Marco Rossi

The former Brescia and Sampdoria player has minimal experience of managing at the top level but did guide Honved to the Hungarian title in 2016-17. Claims to have learned a lot from playing under Marcelo Bielsa during his time in Mexico with Club America and will look to make his side difficult to break down.

All games

Strengths

• Outstanding goalkeeper

• Bristol City’s Adam Nagy is an engine in midfield

• Willi Orban is a commanding figure at the back

Weaknesses

• Lack a consistent goalscorer

• Squad mainly comprised of players from outside of Europe’s big five leagues

• Dominik Szoboszlai’s absence is a huge blow

Prospects

There is hope for Hungary given that the best four third-placed sides will make the knockout stages but, with Szoboszlai now out of the equation, they may even fall short of that target.

Hungary head into Euro 2020 in confident mood albeit hopes of progression look slim. Marco Rossi has focused on improving his squad. Dominik Szoboszlai will be a big miss but watch out for Fenerbahce’s Attila Szalai.
