Heart and head both say Constitution Hill for me, although I’d love Honeysuckle to run right up to her best in defeat so we can put a monster all-time-great rating on a new champion.

A Plus Tard. It is rare to see a Gold Cup won the way he did it – upsides at the last and 15 lengths clear at the line. Galopin Des Champs looks dodgy when he has to get in close, and the second-season novices look a non-vintage bunch.

Energumene, Ferny Hollow and Shishkin are the standouts but they have all been fragile at times, so I think the big pots could be shared arounde. Ultimately, Energumene is the most likely to make it to the big festivals and win the big ones.

Flooring Porter’s form is a little flimsy, beating an unreliable and jaded bunch last season. This division is crying out for something fresh like Blazing Khal, should he stay over hurdles. His two-time victim Gelino Bello paid him a nice compliment in a Grade 1 at Aintree.
