THE PRICEWISE VERDICT
TOM SEGAL
THE big question in all the chase divisions is what route Willie Mullins will opt to take with superstar novice Galopin Des Champs.
He was kept to around 2m4f last season but after his win at Punchestown, Mullins was in no doubt that he was a Gold Cup horse in the making. The yard also have Allaho, so I reckon until proven otherwise, Galopin Des Champs is likely to be trained as a stayer.
Consequently, I expect Allaho to have a clear run at the Ryanair again and it’s really hard to see where his opposition if going to come from.
I think that pair are light years ahead of the rest, although it wouldn’t be out of the question that Shishkin moved up in trip as he’s always looked likely to be even better over further than 2m.
