Sandown takes centre stage with the highlight being the Scilly Isles Novices’ Chase.

The feature contest was first run in 1964 and was run over two miles prior to 1988. Daryl Jacob rode the winner on four consecutive occasions between 2015 and 2018. Last year’s winner L’Homme Presse went on to land the Grade 1 Brown Advisory at the Cheltenham festival. Nine winners since 2013 were officially rated 149+ (+£15.32).

Sandown’s Heroes Handicap Hurdle was established in 1986 and its distance was lengthened from 1993. Francois Doumen’s Baracouda carried 11st 12lb to victory in 2004.

Wetherby’s Towton Novices’ Chase was first run in 1996. The inaugural winner Mr Mulligan went on to land the 1997 Gold Cup. Eight of the ten winners since 2010 were bred in Ireland (+£21.13).
