Forest could land first blow

8pm Wednesday, Sky Sports Football

MAN UTD v NOTTINGHAM FOREST

It would be understandable if Manchester United took their foot off the gas here with a 3-0 first-leg lead in the bag.

The Red Devils have been transformed in the last few months and while a draw at Crystal Palace and defeat at leaders Arsenal have probably killed off their chances of winning the Premier League, they look well placed in all three cup competitions.

However, with such a lead already in the bag, it would be understandable if they were not quite on the ball in the early stages of the second leg at Old Trafford and that could give Forest the chance to make an early mark.

The Tricky Trees were a soft touch on the road after returning to the top flight, but they look stronger travellers these days.

A 3-0 league defeat at United is the only one of their last five away games in which they haven’t notched and they are sure to be positive in the early exchanges on Wednesday with nothing to lose. STAT Forest have scored in four of their last five away league and cup matches
