Saints have live chance of taming the Foxes

HENRY HARDWICKE

There’s a full midweek Premier League fixture list on the menu this week and our numbers have thrown up a couple of excellent top-flight bets.

We start on the south coast where Southampton look attractively priced according to our figures. Bookmakers rate the Saints 6-4 to beat Leicester at St Mary’s on Wednesday which looks good business.

Of course, Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side were hammered 4-0 by Liverpool at the weekend, but it would be harsh to judge the Saints on that performance and, while capable, Leicester are not Jurgen Klopp’s Reds.

Southampton have lost only five matches this season and two of those defeats came against the Reds and Chelsea.

That’s not terrible by any means, especially when you consider the players Hasenhuttl lost in the summer and the lack of funds the Austrian has been given to replace them.

Leicester hit Watford for four on Sunday, but the Hornets’ defence is a shambles and the Foxes haven’t been as convincing in other matches this season.

Brendan Rodgers’ side have won five Premier League matches this season and just two of those have come on the road. Both of those were achieved against sides that were promoted from the Championship last term and Southampton should put up more of a fight.

Our figures make Leicester bigger than the 15-8 on offer with the layers so the Saints look the best.

Leeds are another home side that are worthy of support according to our True Odds figures.

The Whites have been hit harder than most by injuries this term, but they are beginning to get some key players back and results should start to turn in their favour.

Marcelo Bielsa’s men dominated the first half of their defeat at Spurs a couple of weeks ago and put in a solid defensive display at Brighton on Saturday.

The Whites have picked up some credible draws without many of their stars this term, and with those restored they can collect a much-needed three points at home to Crystal Palace on Tuesday.

There’s a lot to like about the Eagles this term, but for all that they are taking a more progressive approach under Patrick Vieira, they have still only won two of their last nine top-flight matches.

At around 6-4, Leeds look a decent price.
