Real making light work of their hectic schedule

Saturday’s key La Liga clash with Real Sociedad will be Real Madrid’s third match in seven days but they have the squad to handle the quick succession of fixtures and they can consolidate top spot by claiming maximum points.

Los Blancos are on a great run of form, having won six matches on the spin in all competitions prior to Wednesday’s home league assignment with Athletic Bilbao.

The most recent of those victories was against fellow highflyers Sevilla and Madrid can send out another message to the rest of the division with victory over title contenders Real Sociedad.

The Basque outfit have been one of the teams to watch in La Liga this term but are at risk of slipping out of contention after their stalemate with Valencia was swiftly followed by a 1-0 defeat to mid-table Espanyol last time out.

That has put a dent in their title hopes and with Europa League duties to juggle as well, they look less capable than Madrid of dealing with the congested fixture list.

They are worth opposing when Carlo Ancelotti’s men come to the Anoeta.
